To help encourage, maintain and facilitate participation of the Cree people in traditional harvesting activities as a way of life, the Director-general of the Cree Hunters and Trappers Economic Security Board, Mr. Serge Larivière, has created "The Cree Hunter and Trapper" magazine.
Born in january 2007, this is a trilingual publication intended to be distributed free of cost to the Cree communities of northern Québec including their airports, community centers and schools. This initiative is part of the "other incentive mesures" (in reference to the paragraph 30.2.1 of the Complementary Agreement No. 15 of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement).
Obviously, the name of the magazine says it all. The main subjects involve hunting, trapping, fishing and other Cree traditional activities. In every edition, “The Traveling Director” column allows us to discover the Cree Nation by many photos. These pictures full of traditional culture are taken by the Director-general of the Board while traveling to different northern territories.
